1 Man Of Steel 2 Villain Candidate Would Make Batman V. Superman Better

Many wish for Henry Cavill to continue as Superman, and one particular Man of Steel 2 villain could actually elevate Batman v Superman.

Henry Cavill's potential return as Superman could bring in a villainess whose presence could elevate Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with her role. Henry Cavill's eagerness to continue as Superman is shared by fans of his portrayal of the Last Son of Krypton, while the WB-Discovery merger is reportedly keen to emphasize Superman's big-screen presence in contemporary media. With discussion emerging of Cavill possibly taking to the skies once more, there's one Superman antagonist who could be particularly fitting for Cavill's Superman, namely Leslie Ellis, a.k.a. Livewire.

Similar to Harley Quinn on Batman: The Animated Series, Livewire was introduced on Superman: The Animated Series and later worked into DC Comics and other Superman adaptations. In her origin story, Leslie Ellis was a Metropolis radio shock jock (voiced by Lori Petty) who frequently vented great disdain for Superman on her radio show, not unlike Kal-El's public grilling in Batman v Superman. During an accident at a concert, a bolt of lightning passed through Superman and reached a cable Ellis' foot was on, giving her electrical powers and leading her to adopt the villainous moniker Livewire. As a result, Livewire's character history makes her especially perfect for use alongside Cavill's Superman.

In Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, Kal-El faces as much distrust as adoration from the public due to the alien might he wields. A radio shock jock like Leslie Ellis would be the exact kind of person to capitalize on the paranoia Superman has faced from skeptical humans. This also makes the idea of another Cavill-anchored Superman movie taking place between Man of Steel and Batman v Superman a particularly great place for him to continue.

With a time jump of 18 months between the two films, a lot happened in the interim period of Man of Steel and Batman v Superman that has never been shown. Delving into that timeframe could show Superman's many acts of heroism and bring in Superman villains who have yet to get their due on cinema screens. Livewire could deliver significantly in this regard, fueling the fearful feelings much of the world (and Ben Affleck's Batman) hold towards Superman on her radio show as Leslie Ellis and later becoming a direct adversary after transforming into Livewire.

There are many great villains for Cavill to face in his possible return as Superman, but Ellis' efforts to demonize the Man of Steel on her radio show fit Kal-El's story in Batman v Superman like a glove. This could also even play into "The Metahuman Thesis" mentioned by Senator June Finch (Holly Hunter) in Batman v Superman, with the presence of aliens and humans with powers derived from accidents leading some, such as Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg), to conclude that naturally born metahumans exist on Earth.

However Cavill might return as Superman; the enthusiasm for him to do so is clearly there after the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League re-energized Kal-El from the theatrical cut's debacle. Livewire could be just the Superman villainess for the job of challenging Cavill's practically ageless Man of Steel with a platform to smear his name and electrical powers to match. Best of all, Livewire could also both add to Kal-El's arc in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and be a catalyst in helping to bring other big Superman villains off the big screen bench.
