An Ohio-based producer of steel products plans to significantly expand with a new factory in Alabama that will create about 100 jobs.

Local news reports said that Gregory Industries is set to spend $30 million on a new 325,000-square-foot factory in Athens, Alabama, where the company will make steel tubing, metal framing, strut channels, and highway guardrail and barrier systems.

The project will reportedly result in 100 new jobs in production, maintenance, and supervisory positions. The company is expected to break ground in March 2022 and the plant is projected to begin operating the following fall. Company officials told WHNT-TV that the factory will boost its regional production capabilities and enable faster customer service in the Southeast. Gregory’s roots date back to the late 1800s. It rebranded in 2020.
